The National Genealogical Society has big news for its 2025 GRIP Genealogy Institute! We are moving to the University of Pittsburgh!
This year, the GRIP in-person week of intensive genealogy courses, July 13-18, 2025, will be held at the University of Pittsburgh.
Moving to Pitt, one on the finest universities in the northeast, will mean that GRIP students will have access to state-of-the-art classrooms and world-class libraries. GRIP courses will incorporate the amenities Pitt has to offer to bring students a new improved experience. What can students look forward to?
- For students in the Legal Landscapes: Mapping Family History Through Law Library Records with Judy G Russell and Rick Sayre, that means hands-on instruction time in the Barco Law Library.
- GRIP students in Cecelia McFadden’s Mining and Extraction: Building Skills with the Coal Industry will research in archival records at the nearby Heinz History Center. But that’s not all.
There is so much to be excited about. We will post more about this move in the coming months on the GRIP website, but for now, take some time to browse the University of Pittsburgh website to learn about the campus. The website includes more about their library system, including the Barco Law Library. You can also see what food options exist on campus.
